The journey from the US East coast to our new home in southern Japan began on July 12th when we began our stay at Massanutten Resort in the Shenandoah mountains with our families. For 5 days, we grilled out, hiked trails to see waterfalls, explored caverns, tubed down the Shenandoah River, went sunset horseback riding, visited numerous wineries, breweries and visited Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. Spending those days with our families before starting our road trip to Seattle meant so much to us!

Endless Caverns were spectacular and a nice break from the hot weather!

Visiting Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson... it was very humbling to step back in time for the day and learn about how he lived.

After visiting Jefferson's home, it was only fitting to go enjoy some wines at the Jefferson Vineyard! The flowers are so beautiful on the mountains!

Veritas Vineyard was our next stop and it was well worth the drive... we made it right before a big storm rolled through!

We also visited Cross Keys Vineyard, had a great lunch, and witnessed a strong mountain storm!

Beautiful sunset over the Shenandoah Mountains!

On our last day, we did a 7mile hike up and down the mountain that went by 3 different waterfalls! Everyone including Olive got their workout!

Leaving the mountains, Zach and I began our road trip across the states to Seattle! About 3,000 miles to go!
