I don't think I could have prepared myself in any way for the Badlands National Park. After seeing grassy plains and a whole lot of nothing for hours and hours, the rock formations suddenly begin to appear in the distance. The size of these cliffs became more evident as we got closer but, before we entered into the park, Zach was distracted by something on the side of the road:

Prarie Dogs!

After feeding these fat little guys peanuts, we entered into the Badlands National Park. For the next 2 hours, we drove through the park and stopped at multiple overlooks and trails. It was one of the highlights of our trip! Each area of the park looked vastly different from the others... with the endless peaks and color rings, we could've stayed here snapping photos for a lot longer! Check out the gallery below for a few of my favorite photos (out of the hundred that I took!)

Wrapping up our long day trip was Mount Rushmore. We're glad we got to check another sight off the list since we don't know when we will be back in this part of the states! It was very touristy but certainly a must-see.
